Hi Everyone,

I just discovered a good technique that is helping me get the best visual-only clips from a long tape.

Though I'd already logged the tape on paper and indicated which clips were best, I find that it's kind of distracting to choose the best visuals with the sound on and when you're in an analytical mindset.

So I decided to put all the master tapes in one video track, put on some really emotional loud music on the stereo (in the room/headphones, not on the audio track), and slice up the master into the best clips.

The emotional music really helps me look at it with an emotional eye.

It also makes me start thinking about the potential for quiet moments/clips with music later in the film.

Emily - Thanks for sharing! Many people get overwhelmed with all of the broll footage that they have. This is a great trick.
